New assistant principals named for Cave Spring High and Glenvar Middle schools
At their regular meeting June 9, the Roanoke County School Board selected Fiona Hill as a new assistant principal at Cave Spring High School, beginning July 1. Hill replaces Diane Herchenrider, who is moving to the central office.
Hill, a native of Scotland, currently is the testing coordinator at Cave Spring High School. She first joined Roanoke County Public Schools in 2006 as a teacher also at Cave Spring High School. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg and a Master's Degree from Virginia Tech.
The school board also named Corie Franklin as the new assistant principal at Glenvar Middle School, starting July 1. Franklin, a Glenvar High School alumna, first joined Roanoke County Public Schools in 2000 as a teacher at William Byrd High School and returned to Roanoke County in 2006 after spending two years as an administrator in Montgomery County Public Schools. She currently serves as an assistant principal at Northside High School. Franklin holds Bachelor’s and Masters degrees from Virginia Tech.
“Fiona has been an outstanding teacher and coordinator at Cave Spring High School and I’m pleased she will take on this new administrative role,” said Roanoke County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lorraine Lange. “Corie has been a fantastic administrator at Northside High School and I’m confident she will be a great asset at Glenvar Middle,” Lange said.
