BCAT teams place 1st and 4th in regional engine-building competition

Two teams of six students each from the Burton Center for Arts and Technology (BCAT) competed June 26-27 against teams from Michigan and Pennsylvania in an engine building contest in Carlisle, Pa.

As part of the competition, students had to totally disassemble a Chevy engine and put it back together again as fast as possible with no mistakes. The BCAT automotive class team brought home a fourth place finish and the BCAT motorsports class team placed first.

The automotive students each won $1000 in scholarships from two technology schools, while motorsports students each won scholarships totaling $6000. The motorsports class team will represent the Division One area in the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow contest for the National title at the S.E.M.A. show in Las Vegas from Oct. 31- Nov. 4.
