School Board names new assistant principals at BCAT and Mountain View Elem.


The Roanoke County School Board has named two current Roanoke County Public School staff members as assistant principals, beginning July 1.

Jodylee Edsall, current transition specialist and special education coordinator at the Burton Center for Arts and Technology (BCAT) will become the assistant principal at BCAT.  Edsall first joined Roanoke County Public Schools in 1990 as a teacher at Hidden Valley Middle School.  She holds a bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University, a master’s degree in education and human development from George Washington University and an education specialist degree from the University of Virginia.

Matthew Johnson, current fifth-grade teacher at Fort Lewis Elementary School will become the assistant principal at Mountain View Elementary.  Johnson first joined Roanoke County public schools in 2000 as a teacher at Fort Lewis Elementary.  He holds a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a master’s degree from the University of Virginia.

“Jodylee and Matthew have each served in several leadership roles for many years,” said Roanoke County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lorraine Lange.  “I am proud that they both will take on these new leadership roles,” Dr. Lange added.
