About Us

Cave Spring Elementary has a history that is rich in tradition and memories.  Situated on 10.86 acres of land in southwest Roanoke County, the school has a warm, inviting atmosphere and takes pride in the contributions it has made to the students and families that it serves.

Cave Spring Elementary opened in January, 1962 with 20 classrooms, a library, a kitchen and a cafeteria.  In 1971 a gymnasium was completed.  A kindergarten wing was added in 1987 and in order to meet the needs of a growing student body, a new library was built in 1994.  In 2010, the school was completely renovated adding a new administrative wing, kitchen and cafeteria.  A state of the art geothermal heating and air conditioning system was also added during the renovation.  Each classroom is equipped with Promethean ACTIVclassroom equipment.  Students have access to 2 computer labs, laptops, iPads and iPods.

The staff consists of 21 classroom teachers and 18 resource personnel in the following areas:  Library/media, Reading Resource, Physical Education, Special Education, Guidance, Music and Art.

Cave Spring Elementary School is a performance based school with both self-contained and semi-departmentalized classes.  Our students attend Hidden Valley and Cave Spring Middle Schools which feed Hidden Valley and Cave Spring High Schools.
